Debugging
Detailed development logs from the SMIL Player runtime are enabled through the applet configuration:
Configuration parameter
The easiest way to enable debug logs is through the SMIL Player configuration:
- In your Applet Timing Configuration, set the
debugEnabledparameter to "true" - Debug logs will automatically appear in the console
- Set to "false" or remove the parameter to disable logging
debugEnabled: "true"
The debugEnabled option is listed in the Applet Configuration Reference.
This method is ideal for:
- Production troubleshooting without code changes
- Temporary debugging sessions
- Remote device diagnostics
Where the logs go
localStorage.debug is not read by the player. The debugEnabled applet setting is the only switch; in the
Emulator set it in the applet configuration and reload. Where the logs go is decided by the logger applet
config key (console by default), see Custom logger.
In Chrome, press F12 on an active Emulator window to open the debugger and read the logs in the Console tab.
If your want to debug on devices, enable Native debug to access the device debug console.
Enabling debug logs might affect device performance for certain tasks. Never keeps debug logs enabled on production device.
